In 2002, a requirement was added to the Georgia Standard Building Code to add Special Inspection requirements for the State of Georgia. A Special Inspection is the monitoring of the materials and workmanship critical to the integrity of the building structure. It is a review of the work of the contractors and their employees to ensure that the approved plans and specifications are being followed and that the relevant codes and referenced standards are being observed.

The code requires that a Statement of Special Inspections and a Schedule of Special Inspection Services prepared by the Structural Engineer of Record or the Design Professional be submitted by the Architect.

These Special Inspections are normally performed by an independent firm on behalf of the owner or the architect. GEC has performed Special Inspection services on a number of large and small projects, including Georgia State and Finance Investment Commission (GSFIC) projects. GEC is pre-qualified for the performance of Special Inspections on GSFIC projects.

GEC has the qualifications, experience, and manpower necessary to perform and complete the Special Inspection Services required. Contact us when you need a professional quality Special Inspection team to work on your project.
